This month’s MMDH Monthly Must Haves round-up from a slew of vendors within our affiliate families! So fun to broaden our horizons to other vendors, although if you are on the hunt for our Amazon Storefront, you can always find it HERE.

We are dedicating this month’s must haves to a living space full of furniture. That’s right, we are about to launch our much anticipated MMDH FURNISHING METHOD course that will walk you through designing one room of furniture in your home at a time. Why not lead up to that with a solid “monthly must haves” showing a quick furnishing scheme of our current favorites! 🤩

September’s Monthly Must Haves

1. WOOL COLOR-BLOCK BLANKET

Gosh, this dense color-block fringe is enough to make me want this throw in every room of my home. Teal and creme combo is a perfect neutral that can fit in with legitimately ANY exiting color scheme. Promise! Our Top 20 List to Make Your House Feel Like Home actually calls out fringed throws specifically. Trust us… this wool beauty should be top on that shopping list!

2. RATTAN FLUSH MOUNT LIGHT

I mean, honestly, the boob lights must go 🥴 That always feels like a bad term to me, although there is not a much better universal name for builder grade surface mount lighting! Do you still have a few of them gracing your ceilings? I started replacing ours one by one a few years ago, and it makes ALL of the difference. Builder grade lighting is one of those call outs that makes your house feel like it could be anyone’s home. Replace them all at once, or legit give yourself a year in between replacing one at a time. They will eventually collectively give your home a custom feel!

3. VIBRANT PRINT CURTAINS

Okay! I have SO many thoughts on off the shelf curtains, and these puppies check all of the “approved by MMDH” boxes. We are looking at unique pattern ✔️ multiple length options to fit your space ✔️ COLOR, but in the most versatile and approachable hue ✔️ hidden tab mount! ✔️ VOLUME ✔️ Yep, these’ll do it!

4. CLAY MODULAR SOFA

Oooookaaay… we aren’t all in the market for a super fun modular sofa, but what if we were?! How great would life be if we just embraced this super fun and cozy vibe. We have a similar modular sofa in our basement that we reconfigure for every sleepover, fort building, refreshed vibe need, and it is everything! This is perfect for a kid friendly space that needs a bit of life breathed into it!

5. ANTIQUE BRASS FLOOR LAMP

You know when you are buying kids clothes and there is just one too many decorative items added to the mix? That’s how I feel about floor lamps usually… until locating the most basic floor lamp ever made 👆 This one is not the most expensive option you will find, but it sure checks off the simplicity and function boxes!

6. IRREGULAR DOTS PILLOW

Oh my gosh! I discovered these with a client recently and I nearly keeled over. They are textural, neutral, patterned, fun, come in 2 sizes, AND have a coordinating RUG, if you are more in the market for that instead [please note: I would not put these pillows in the same room as their sister rug, unless there was a whole lot else going on around them]! We are checking ALL SORTS of boxes of with this whole list!!

7. SCALLOPED EDGE MIRROR

I mean, I’m not sure if these needs any introduction… it’s perfection, and comes in a slew of sizes. So good in every way 🙌

8. THE LIFE ECLECTIC COFFEE TABLE BOOK

A fun one! I’m a huge promoter of eclectic design. That may actually be the only “style” term that I feel should fit EVERY SINGLE home vibe. You are you, there is only one you. Your home should reflect that. Get moving on your eclectic vibes… maybe start with this coffee table book to help motivate 🤩

9. PURPLE TRINKET BOWL

We’ve shared this a few times in our Instagram Story favorites [if you are not already following us on IG, where are you at?! Star us as a favorite, so you don’t miss our glorious daily posts!] This is simply a great top of book stack accessory, or top of dresser, or top of vanity, orrr you name it! The shape and color make it the perfect pop for any scheme you have going.

10. DECORATIVE STORAGE BASKET

Into the neutral basics we go. They are necessary to help ground even the most colorful of homes. Take it from this color loving designer herself! I need baskets of all shapes and sizes in my life. This one is a great floor basket for your everyday clutter that accumulates. Clear it out here and there, and let the accumulation start again. Excess happens the the best of us. Embrace it, and make it look like you have it together with a basket in every room to collect it quick!

11. WOVEN LEATHER OTTOMAN

I get endless questions about our camel leather ottoman/pouf in our family room. This isn’t it 😆 this one is worlds better. It has the structure of an ottoman, but the soft look of a pouf… AND it is woven leather. Holy toledo, the texture and variation on this piece is incredible! It adds so much to a space, without it feeling like an extreme focal point. I love it paired with a sectional or between two facing sofas.

12. HIGH CONTRAST CHECKERBOARD RUG

SSS does it again. IYKYK. This designer is so good at what she does, and this line of textiles she has partnered on fits her vibe to a T, while still working with just about any other vibe you have going in your home. That is great design. The imperfect pattern makes this feel like a one of a kind vintage piece. The fringe and overall texture is crazy cozy! #musthave #forsure

13. MOSS CUSHION TOP OTTOMAN

These super basic ottomans are the perfect added seating to any lounge area… or a great place to put your feet up! I specified two of these recently and I cannot wait to see them in place. The olive green is AGAIN a great versatile color that becomes neutral in any color scheme 🤗

14. SCALLOPED RAFFIA SHADE CERAMIC LAMP

I organized our junk drawer last week… yep, that life-giving task would have been even more rewarding with these color-block organizers! SO GOOD! Make fun out of the most un-fun tasks in your day. Also, how great to teach the family how to get on the color coding train! 🚂

15. MARBLE TOP STORAGE NIGHTSTAND

This nightstand/storage side table is a real show stopper with its slab top and shaped legs. A simple piece that adds something special to a soft seating arrangement. Check out the visible wood grain on this piece that comes in a few stain color choices.

16. HANDWOVEN STORAGE BASKET

A clutch storage piece that can sit on the floor to hide away toys or dirty laundry. I love the add of a lid to conceal what you don’t need to be seen. This baby checks the pattern and color boxes to boot! All of these “neutral colors” are soft hints that you can expand your neutral horizons into the world of color anytime, without panicking 😉

17. ABSTRACT WALL ART

This one caught my eye, as I love a good room scene AND human add to any gallery wall or single framed piece on a small wall. The colors are softened, but still bold enough to make an impact in your space.

18. COLOR BLOCK WALL ART

This colorful block painting feels super fresh, effortless, and happy. Do I have to keep saying that these must haves can legit fit in ANY any space?? I really try to stop myself from being repetitive in my descriptions, but there is an over-arching theme here. This selection of furnishing must haves can really fit into any eclectic vibe you have going… or create that vibe for you! So easy!!

19. EFFORTLESS CONSOLE

I live for maxing out storage space. This oversized nightstand, or undersized dresser, is perfect for bedroom storage, entryway drop spot, living room accent piece, etc. Name a place that needs a surface and some storage drawers, and here is your solution! The tone of wood is a bonus that it will coordinate with any other finishes you have going. Legit ANY! Trust me.
