…and now, for the grand finally of our MMDH Top 20 How to Make Your House Feel More Like Home list:
#18 Plant flowers.
#19 Edge your lawn.
#20 Water your flowers.
While these feel like hot tips for spring or summer in the Midwest, they are really so much more.
1. Plant flowers
I can’t tell you how much planting fresh flowers can do for inviting curb appeal. The effort can range from a few planted pots on your front steps to an entire flower garden surrounding your home. The idea is that the extra step of planting anything will ramp up your curb appeal. This is the same for your interior. Every little thoughtful add that doesn’t feel entirely necessary, does in fact have the potential of giving you all of the feels when it’s done!
2. Edge your lawn.
It’s all about going the extra mile when it comes to your home. There is no doubt that we can all survive forever without an edged lawn… but wow, what an incredible impact that next step has on the curb appeal of your entire home! There are plenty of interior examples of “edging your lawn”… you know, like filling your empty frames, styling those glass cabinets and open bookshelves, and rearranging the room that you’ve never been quite sold on. The list goes on, but before you are daunted by every next step all at once, know that each of those individual steps takes your home to the next level of home design.
3. Water your flowers.
So this is very literally the idea of keeping your hard work alive. It can also reference keeping your thoughtfully designed spaces styled. Tidy up after long days or at the beginning of the next. Don’t put the work in, just to see it clutter up. Take the steps to make your home yours, and transform your house into your dream home.
This Top 20 list can now become a staple in your home. Hang it on the fridge. Check those boxes when you accomplish something new toward your home goals. Love the home you are in and take these steps to get excited about waking up in it every day.
