home decor questions.
In our latest series of blog posts, we take you through the step-by-step interior design process that I used for my own living room/home office redesign. This space is constantly evolving at the moment for our growing business and active family needs, and I am SO ready to get it feeling complete and cohesive with all else we have going on under this roof.
I have gotten hung up on one thing in tracking this personal project process through our 6-Module MMDH Furnishing Method masterclass for design-ready homeowners.
That’s right, I’m being guided through my own interior design process via video tutorials of ME! [I’m laughing, but it’s been a wildly enlightening process, so hear me out.]
I have been in the interior design profession for 19 years [yep, that means I graduated with my design degree almost two decades ago]! It is amazing how anything you do for this long becomes second nature, and there is STILL so much to learn as you go.
The critical key to wrap your mind around designing any space is to understand that your space is one of a kind, which makes it a challenge: never an immediate reveal reward [sorry to break it to you, but HGTV has a lot more happening BTS!], no shortage of questions, endless options to debate over, and SO much potential if you get it all done right!
Every design project is different. Each space offers up a new challenge. Every furnishing you purchase raises a fresh question you may not have thought about before.
I have been coordinating interior design specifications for nearly two decades on HUNDREDS of spaces with amazing teams, and I still gain so much from following the interior design process, because EVERY SINGLE SPACE IS DIFFERENT, but there is one thing that remains the same: The Process.
As much as I live for collaborating one-on-one with homeowners, I am always exploring ways to make my interior design process more accessible to everyone. I want to empower you with the confidence to take on your own design projects, and show you that you absolutely can do this!
